Sharing Plans for the Katikati Skate Park Upgrades

Updated: Jul 15

Last week we (Katikati Community Led Development) hosted the Business After Five event organised by Katch Katikati.

John from our Steering Group, along with some youth/rangatahi, shared - to a packed out audience - our story of how we've talked (via interviews, workshops, chats etc ) with local youth to find out what they want and need in Katikati - and most importantly 'why' .

Their message was clear—they want a space of their own, a place to play, connect with friends, and feel safe.

This has ultimately led to a vision of upgrading the Katikati Skate Park to provide a safe space for young people to gather, as well as seating and cover for parents and caregivers, play equipment for younger siblings, and BBQ facilities for shared meals.

This is a community funded project and we'd love your input; every contribution, big or small, helps empower our youth and creates a space for youth to play, connect with friends, and feel safe.
